Most Undervalued Toronto Blue Jays On 2025 Roster

Fact Checked by Jim Tomlin

After the team’s last place finish in 2024, one has to wonder if the end is near for the Toronto Blue Jays in their current form. Stars Vlad Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette are coming up on free agency before long, making the team an iffy futures wager at Ontario sportsbooks.

Luckily for Toronto, the Jays have a host of young talent that are years away from arbitration or free agency, including second-year pitcher Bowden Francis and designated hitter Will Wagner, which should lessen the blow for the club.

OntarioBets.com used Fangraphs.com to gather 2025 salary information and projected WAR (Wins Above Replacement) for this season. Then we divided the salary by the player’s projected WAR (dollars per projected WAR point) to determine the players’ potential value.

Who Are The Most Undervalued Jays?

Of the three Toronto Blue Jays players that are expected to provide the most “value” (salary per WAR) in 2025, only catcher Alejandro Kirk is making above league minimum this season. Francis and Wagner are each slated to earn $800,000 this year.

Kirk is set to earn $4.6 million in 2025. His preseason WAR projection from Fangraphs.com comes out to 3.9, with 10 home runs and a .267 average in 110 games played, earning him the third best salary per WAR of any Toronto player, behind Francis and Wagner.

In total, Francis’ 1.5 WAR projection and $800,000 salary mean his value of $533,333 per projected WAR point is tops on the team, followed by Wagner (1.4 WAR projection/$571,429 value) and Kirk (3.9 WAR projection/$1,179,487 value).

Francis, Kirk and Wagner are expected to provide the lion’s share of Toronto’s on-field value in 2025 for a team that carries a preseason win total over/under of 79.5, per NorthStar Bets Ontario Sportsbook.
