Who is favoured to win the World Series?

Currently, the LA Dodgers are the favourite to win the 2025 World Series. With big names like Shohei Ohtani on the lineup, the Dodgers season outlook is looking good. After winning their first two games of the season in Japan against the Chicago Cubs, the Dodgers have already put the first foot forward as the betting favourite to repeat as World Series champions.

World Series Favourites

The competition is fierce this year for the World Series title. When considering which team will take the ultimate win, it’s important to consider a range of factors including odds, team dynamics, trades, injuries, and player statistics. In this section, we’ll dive into the top favourite teams of the season thus far.

National League Favourites

LA Dodgers

The LA Dodgers are currently our top pick for winning the World Series this year. Last year’s National League MVP Shohei Ohtani is a force to be reckoned with, backed by a strong set of team members with him, including a strong starting pitching staff that includes Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Blake Snell, and Tyler Glasnow.

Atlanta Braves

If you’re from Atlanta, you’re probably already excited about what the Braves have in store. With Chris Sale ending last season at the top of the charts, big things are in store for this year if that momentum continues. Plus, Ronald Acuna Jr. will be back, giving the Braves the extra boost they need.

American League Favourites

NY Yankees

As usual, the New York Yankees are expected to dominate this year. This historic team has already taken 27 World Series titles. With Aaron Judge holding the 2024 American League MVP title, in addition to 2022 and 2017, there’s no doubt this team is the current favourite for 2025. After losing to the Dodgers last season, the Yankees are eager to finish the job this time around.

Baltimore Orioles

The Baltimore Orioles have a ton of young talent on their team, eager to make names for themselves. Even though star Anthony Santander left the team for the Jays, we still expect big things from the Orioles. Zach Eflin leads an upstart rotation that looks to take the next step and help the Orioles make some moves in the playoffs.

World Series Contenders

The tides can change quickly in baseball. Make sure to keep an eye out for these top contenders this year.

National League Contenders

Philadelphia Phillies

The Philadelphia Phillies, with powerhouse starting pitchers Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola on their side, will no doubt be a force this season. They also have a stacked lineup that includes Bryce Harper, Trea Turner, Kyle Schwarber, and Nick Castellanos.

San Diego Padres

The Padres are stacked with talent, including Robert Suarez and Dylan Cease. The team has never won a World Series, adding a particularly strong motivation to this team’s already solid lineup. If Manny Machado and Fernando Tatis can stay healthy, and if Xander Bogaerts and Luis Arraez remain consistent, then the Padres will have a great chance to make a run.

American League Contenders

Houston Astros

Houston fans will tell you this year could be it for the Astros, and they may not be wrong. There are a lot of rumours going around about potential trades, but regardless of the outcome, the Astros have a positive outlook for this season. Despite losing Kyle Tucker to the Chicago Cubs, the Astros are still a threat to win it all with a stacked rotation and a lineup that can still do damage.

Boston Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox are one of those teams that just can’t be underestimated. With a breakthrough year for Tanner Houck in 2024, we expect big things this season. The addition of Garrett Crochet to their rotation will also help, as well as a lineup that features Rafael Devers and Jarren Duran.

World Series Longshots

They may not be the current stars of the show, but these longshots are not to be underestimated. Spring Training is a great opportunity to get an early look at teams that could perform beyond expectations.

National League Longshots

Arizona Diamondbacks

The Arizona Diamondbacks are on the up. With top prospect Corbin Carroll already showcasing some impressive performances, this team is definitely a consideration for the big win in 2025. Now, they have improved with the addition of All-Star starting pitcher Corbin Burnes to a rotation that already includes Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly.

Chicago Cubs

The Chicago Cubs are in a wide-open division, with the Milwaukee Brewers being the division champs and the other three teams in transition. Shota Imanaga leads their rotation, and new addition Tucker will be an instrumental piece in their lineup.

American League Longshots

Cleveland Guardians

After making his MLB debut in 2024, first baseman and outfielder Jhonkensy Noel has already made a serious name for himself. Along with a number of top prospects, we look forward to seeing how this team develops throughout the year, especially with Tanner Bibee at the top of the rotation and Emmanuel Chase continuing to close games out.

Seattle Mariners

The Mariners have been a popular sleeper pick for the last few seasons. They already possess one of the best rotations in baseball, with Luis Castillo, George Kirby, Logan Gilbert, and Bryce Miller all performing well. Ultimately, the lineup must improve, and it starts with Julio Rodriguez and Randy Arozarena leading the charge.

Types of World Series Bets You Can Make

When betting on the MLB World Series, there are several wagering options to consider, from simple money line bets on who will win the game to options like player prop betting, MVP winner, and future bets on the championship winner.

Futures Bets

Futures bets are wagers placed on the outcome of a season-long event before it concludes, often weeks or even months in advance. In the case of the MLB World Series, a futures bet allows you to wager on which team will win the championship well before the final series is played.

Moneyline Bets

A moneyline bet is the simplest type of wager in sports betting, where you are betting on which team will win the game outright, with no point spread involved. The odds are set based on each team's perceived chances of winning, with favorites having lower payouts and underdogs offering higher returns.

World Series Player Props

Player prop betting focuses on individual player performances rather than the outcome of the game. In the MLB World Series, this could include wagers on how many home runs Aaron Judge will hit in the series or how many strikeouts Shohei Ohtani will record in a single game

World Series MVP Odds

Betting on World Series MVP odds means placing a wager on which player will be named the most valuable player of the series. Odds fluctuate based on player performance, with favorites like Shohei Ohtani or Aaron Judge having lower odds, while longshot picks can offer higher payouts if they have a breakout series.

Live Betting Odds

Live betting allows you to place wagers on a World Series game while it’s happening, with odds updating in real-time based on the action. For example, if the Dodgers are trailing the Yankees in the 5th inning, you could bet on them to make a comeback at improved odds, or wager on how many strikeouts a pitcher will record before being pulled from the game.
