Jordan Love Injury Update: When Will Jordan Love Return To Action?

By Jim Tomlin
Fact Checked by Nate Hamilton

The injury to quarterback Jordan Love last week in the Green Bay Packers’ season opener had a huge impact on the team and on wagering. At DraftKings Ontario Sportsbook, the Packers went from having -155 odds of making the playoffs to +180 in the space of a week.

Love went down with a sprained MCL in his left knee toward the end of Green Bay’s 34-29 Week 1 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

These odds for when Love will return were created exclusively for OntarioBets.com, but Ontario sports betting operators have hundreds of NFL wagers available each week.

What Happened To Jordan Love?

The Green Bay Packers playoff chances certainly took a hit when Love was hurt.

With 5 seconds left in Friday’s game, Love was sandwiched between Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter and linebacker Josh Sweat on a hit. Love’s left knee buckled and he left the game.

NFL.com reported that Love, according to an initial diagnosis and timeline, is expected to miss at least three weeks and perhaps up to six.

Before then, Love had 260 yards passing, completing 17 of 34 attempts, with two touchdowns and an interception against Philly. Last season, his first as a starter, the 2020 first-round pick threw for 4,159 yards and 32 TDs, plus he ran for 247 yards and four more scores.

Packers’ Quarterback Depth Chart: Who Is Packers’ Backup Quarterback?

Next up on Green Bay’s depth chart is Malik Willis, a former third-round draft choice of the Tennessee Titans. Willis started three games as a rookie in 2022 for the Titans but played little last season (going 4-for-5 for the season in mopup duty) and was traded to the Packers in the offseason.

As of Sept. 10, there were no other quarterbacks listed on Green Bay’s depth chart, either at the team website or at Ourlads.com; the latter listed former Penn State QB Sean Clifford as being on the team’s practice squad.

It seems Willis will start for Green Bay in Sunday’s Week 2 game against Indianapolis at Lambeau Field (1 p.m. Eastern). See our Packers vs. Colts odds page to track any movement for spread, moneyline and over/under wagering on that game.
