In preparation for Oct. 31, we decided to put our usual Ontario sports betting coverage aside for a spell to see if we can predict Ontario’s most popular Halloween costumes for 2024. By using Google Trends to dig up the top 10 most searched for costume ideas in the province over a 30-day span, we came up with following rankings of the most popular 2024 Ontario Halloween costumes.

If you’re thinking of dressing up as Wednesday Addams for Halloween this year, expect to see doubles (or triples). Based on our research, we’re predicting that Gomez and Morticia’s youngest daughter will be Ontario’s No. 1 2024 Halloween costume.
Though the first televised appearance of “The Addams Family” was 60 years ago, Netflix’s 2022 re-imagining of the franchise, “Wednesday” starring Jenna Ortega, has been a massive success for the streamer. The show isn’t set to return until 2025, but we suspect there will be plenty of Wednesday Addams representation across Ontario this Halloween.
Next up on the list are two classics representing the extremes of the Halloween costume experience. In second place we have the Princess costume, which has been giving kids and adults a reason to dress up and look pretty on Halloween for decades. On the opposite end of the spectrum, we have the crooked-nose, wart-covered witch costume, which checks in at No. 3.
Another timeless costume still holding strong in 2024, the ghost, is sixth on our list. Beloved by procrastinators everywhere, all this costume requires is a bed sheet and a pair of scissors. Some other classic costumes sure to be well represented on Halloween night in 2024 include vampires (No. 7), then pirates and cheerleaders in a tie for ninth.
Expect plenty of Ontario trick-or-treaters to pay homage to 2024’s biggest names in pop culture. At No. 4, the Deadpool costume looks like it’ll be popular. But given the “multiversal” nature of this past summer’s “Deadpool & Wolverine,” there’s still plenty of room for creativity with this choice. For instance, new parents might want to consider a Babypool costume for their newborn.
Two more ideas inspired by 2024 blockbusters also make the list, with Beetlejuice costumes ranked at No. 5 and Minion costumes eighth.
