Cold weather is in the air in Canada, which might make this a great time for many to look forward to something else in the air: Love.
Valentine’s Day is approaching fast. OntarioBets.com took a break from our Ontario gambling sites coverage because we wanted to know which provinces are most prepared for the day, on Feb. 14. Using Google Trends, we ranked the top five provinces most frequently searching “Valentine’s Day.” It was a 30-day search conducted on Jan. 28, 2025. We also ranked the top five items being searched in Ontario to gift their loved one for the day.

According to our research into internet interest, Ontario scored 95 points, second behind only Nova Scotia (100) for searches related to Valentine’s Day.
Ontario also has some great sights for couples to visit. The classic, of course, is Niagara Falls, known worldwide as a beautiful and fun tourist attraction.
A lesser-known possibility for couples to visit is Pelle Island, a small landmass in Lake Erie, just north of the Canada-United States line in the water. The official Pelee Island website boasts of its value as home to more than 300 bird species, including some that are endangered.
And what gifts are folks thinking of buying for Valentine’s Day in the province? Here are our findings:

It’s clear that a wide variety of gifts come to people’s minds for Valentine’s Day, but the classics are still the top favorites.
Chocolate is No. 1 with a search interest score of 16, followed by roses at 11. The Destination Ontario tourism website has a list of the province’s top local chocolate makers, many of which offer tours.
