The task of snapping the NFL’s longest playoff drought, belonging to the New York Jets, now is in the hands of one of their former star players. Defensive back-turned-defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn was hired as head coach by the AFC East franchise on Jan. 22 as they aim to end the club’s 14-year postseason hiatus in 2025.
Glenn excelled on the field for the Jets, making three trips to the Pro Bowl, before serving as a defensive assistant with the Cleveland Browns, New Orleans Saints and Lions from 2014 to 2024.
Now, the 52-year-old Texas native will have to assemble a coaching staff so New York can try to reach the postseason for the first time since 2010 this fall. OntarioBets.com, as part of our Ontario sportsbooks coverage, got to thinking about who Glenn will choose as his play-caller in 2025.
Candidate | Current Job | Odds | Percent Chance |
Klint Kubiak | Saints Offensive Coordinator | +400 | 20.0% |
Nick Caley | Rams TEs Coach & Passing Game Coordinator | +450 | 18.2% |
Mark Brunell | Lions QBs Coach | +450 | 18.2% |
Scott Turner | Raiders Interim OC & Passing Game Coordinator | +600 | 14.3% |
Anthony Lynn | Commanders RBs Coach | +1000 | 9.1% |
Todd Haley | Former Steelers OC and Chiefs Head Coach | +1000 | 9.1% |
The Field |
| +900 | 10.0% |
Our inaugural Jets OC candidates list starts with Saints offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak; we give him +400 odds, which would translate to a 20% implied probability if this were offered at Ontario sports betting apps. Kubiak started as an assistant in the league in 2016 under his father, Gary, before serving as the OC of the Minnesota Vikings in 2021 and the Saints in 2024.
We have Kubiak as a slight favorite to be the next Jets offensive coordinator, coming in ahead of Los Angeles Rams tight ends coach and passing game coordinator Nick Caley and Lions quarterbacks coach Mark Brunell. We list both of them at +450, followed by Las Vegas Raiders interim offensive coordinator and passing game coordinator Scott Turner at +600. Will the new OC get immediate offensive help in the 2025 Draft? Check out our New York Jets draft guide for a look.
Longshots to keep an eye on in the Big Apple include Washington Commanders running backs coach and former Los Angeles Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn and former Kansas City Chiefs head coach Todd Haley. We list both at +1000 to be the next man in charge of calling plays in New York under Glenn.
Regardless of who Glenn picks to be his first offensive coordinator, that person will face a tall task. New York looks to return to prominence after a decade and a half of gridiron mediocrity in The Meadowlands under coaches Rex Ryan, Todd Bowles, Adam Gase and Robert Saleh. We will see if the shape of Glenn’s staff has any impact on NFL betting odds heading into the 2025 season.
