There’s no sugarcoating the way that the Toronto Blue Jays have played this season, not for their fans or for customers at Ontario sportsbooks. Through Aug. 19, the Jays are 58-66, last in the American League East.
Now there are suggestions that Toronto general manager Ross Atkins should blow the whole thing up. One candidate to move on is 25-year-old first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. So OntarioBets.com compiled odds on where Vladito might be playing next. The trade deadline came and went without the Jays dealing Guerrero, so they might decide to keep him and build around him.
Outcome | Odds | Percent Chance |
Re-sign with Toronto Blue Jays | -400 | 80.0% |
Enter Free Agency | +400 | 20.0% |

The son of the Hall of Fame outfielder, Vladimir Guerrero Sr., is on a one-year, $19 million contract with the Jays. He hits unrestricted free agency after the 2026 season, meaning Toronto has another two seasons of club control over the young star. That could ultimately help Atkins and company land quite the haul, should the club decide to trade their star slugger. But Toronto Blue Jays playoff odds would take an even bigger hit if they dealt such a productive bat.
Guerrero is having a fine season, with 25 home runs, 80 RBIs, a .317 batting average and a .936 OPS. But in terms of his MVP odds, a handful of other AL players are putting up statistics that are just as good or better than Guerrero. More important, they're all on contending teams. Players on last-pace teams rarely win individual honors.
But the fact that Toronto has two more years of control makes it most likely that Guerrero stays for now. That’s why we say Vladito will re-sign with the Jays, at odds of -400 (an 80% implied probability). These odds are exclusive to OntarioBets and not at Ontario sports betting apps.
As the regular season winds down, now is the time for MLB executives to make some hard decisions about their future. That’s why Atkins could make a move that would send one of the club’s most likable players south of the border rather than signing Guerrero to a massive multi-year deal. We have +400 odds that Guerrero will eventually leave via free agency.
