One of Major League Baseball's biggest rising stars, Blue Jays slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr., is entering free agency after the 2025 season. At OntarioBets.com, as part of our Ontario sports betting coverage, we are keeping an eye on Guerrero’s status. The Blue Jays didn’t make a deal with the star after his self-determined deadline of March 24.
Outcome | Odds | Percent Chance |
Stay with Toronto Blue Jays | +150 | 40.0% |
Chicago Cubs | +550 | 15.4% |
San Diego Padres | +750 | 11.8% |
San Francisco Giants | +800 | 11.1% |
Seattle Mariners | +1850 | 5.1% |
Boston Red Sox | +2350 | 4.1% |
The Field | +700 | 12.5% |
Right now, our top landing spot for the man affectionately known as “Vladito” is the team that’s employed him for the entirety of the 26-year-old’s MLB career. The Blue Jays check in as +150 favorites to keep Guerrero long-term – however, that’s down from -150 odds in our previous update, with his theoretical chances of staying falling from 60% to 40%.
You can keep track of Toronto Blue Jays playoff odds from various operators at OntarioBets.com all season.
This year, Guerrero is slated to earn $28.5 million, which is still well short of the market value of $35.6 million per season that Spotrac.com contract data places on the Canadian-born infielder. That illustrates that even at his price, how much of a bargain the four-time All-Star is for the Jays compared to players with similar production at his age.
Should Guerrero wind up leaving Toronto, however, keep an eye on teams such as the Chicago Cubs, who check in at +550 to land the son of the Hall of Fame outfielder Vlad Guerrero. Other National League teams such as the San Diego Padres (+750) and San Francisco Giants (+800) are among the other leading suitors for “Vladito” in 2025.
OntarioBets.com has Vlad Guerrero MVP odds for the American League race.
There’s also a shot that Guerrero either takes his talents west to play for the Seattle Mariners, who clock in at +1850 to land him, or that he signs with the Jays’ AL East rivals from Boston (+2350). But we’re not sold on either AL team being a frontrunner to land him just yet.
🏆 CHECK OUT: MLB World Series Odds
Guerrero’s main task for now is to follow up on a wildly successful season in 2024, when he posted his second-highest WAR total (6.2, per Baseball-Reference.com), with 199 hits, 44 doubles (both career highs), 30 homers and 103 RBIs in 159 games played.
Guerrero’s next contract will be huge, wherever he winds up. For the opposite end of the payroll spectrum, see our story about most undervalued Blue Jays in 2025.
In the season that just started, Baseball-Reference.com projects Vladito to bash 26 homers, 87 RBIs and 160 hits across 617 plate appearances. That would build on a season that few north of the border will forget, though the team’s on-field performance lagged well behind expectations in 2024.
Just a few games into the 2025 MLB season the team at DraftKings Ontario Sportsbook sees Vlad’s on-field performance as the only bright spot for the Jays. Guerrero, who turned 26 on March 16, holds +1600 odds of winning the American League MVP (tied with Houston's Yordan Alvarez for the sixth-best odds leaguewide) in 2025.
Toronto entered the season with a win total over/under of 78.5 and +250 odds of making the playoffs with the operator, the fourth longest of any team in the 15-team Junior Circuit. As for winning the World Series, Sports Interaction Ontario Sportsbook lists the Blue Jays at +6600 odds as of March 31.
