Bills’ Record After 12 Games
Where Do Bills Go From Here?
The Bills (6-6), second in the AFC East (the Miami Dolphins are first), are coming off a bye week, and take on the 8-4 Chiefs in Kansas City Sunday, kick off at 4:25 p.m. EST. It is the worst start for Buffalo, since 2018. The Bills were 4-8 after 12 games on their way to a 6-10 record that season.
At the start of the NFL season, BetMGM Ontario odds on the Bills winning Over 10.5 were -130, the Under +110. Last week the Over 8.5 was -140, the Under 8.5 +115. The current odds are the same, with the Over generating 68 percent of tickets and 69 percent of handle.
So, being on the outside looking in when it comes to playoff picture, the time playing second fiddle to the Chiefs is over. The natives are restless. There’s been plenty of social media commentary and media coverage this week questioning Sean McDermott’s coaching. And, according to the New York Times playoff simulator, the Bills have a 15 percent chance of making the playoffs.
Return of Knox and Elam Welcome
TE Dawson Knox and CB Kaiir Elam are back practicing with the team, it was reported this week. That’s the big news on the injury front for the Bills. On the Chiefs front, linebacker Drue Tranquill (concussion) is listed as questionable, as is safety Bryan Cook (ankle).
Defensive end Von Miller was practicing with the team yesterday, days after an arrest warrant in Dallas was issued on accusations of domestic assault. Miller turned himself into the police. No formal charges have been filed. Bills general manager Brandon Beane told reporters the team will follow the lead of the NFL in the matter.
Oddsmakers like the Chiefs for Sunday: DraftKings Ontario has the Moneyline Bills +102, Chiefs -122. NorthStar Bets has it Bills +105, Chiefs -127.
And the Bills’ remaining schedule is as tough as it gets – after the Chiefs, it’s games against the Dallas Cowboys (9-3), Los Angeles Chargers (5-7), New England Patriots (2-10) and Miami Dolphins (9-3). The Bills are 3-5 against the AFC this season.
The good news? The Bills are 6-0 off a bye week under McDermott.
Against the Spread for the game, the Bills ranked fifth by handle at DraftKings. The Spread there is Bills +1.5, Chiefs -1.5.
