The World Series of Poker is headed to the Big Smoke, and those hoping to test their skills against the nation’s best will be able to put down their names in short order.
Set to take place at the Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto, the 2nd annual WSOP event will offer exclusive registration began March 31 for Great Canadian Rewards members, with general in-person registration opening April 1st at Great Canadian Casino.
As for the tournament, the prize pool is expected to exceed $5.5 million, the total for last year’s record-breaking pot. The expanded schedule and increased prize pools means this year’s poker tournament will happen between April 10-22, and will feature 11 WSOP Circuit Ring Events including all new Ladies, Seniors, and Pot Limit Omaha tournament events.
Hosted at Great Canadian Toronto, Canada’s newest and largest casino resort opened in June 2023, the event will also be sponsored by GGPoker, the online casino and poker destination for poker enthusiasts.
“We’re thrilled to partner once again with GGPoker to bring an elite poker experience to Toronto,” Great Canadian Entertainment Executive Vice President Michael Kim said in a press release. “The demand for this exceptional tournament continues to grow, attracting top talent from around the world. This year’s event promises even higher stakes and unparalleled excitement. We’re proud to continue elevating the poker scene and being the sole destination in Ontario delivering WSOP events for players and fans alike.”
As more players sharpen their skills in digital arenas, platforms like GGPoker and Ontario online casinos have provided a convenient way for enthusiasts to hone their strategies before taking their seats at live events.
“We are excited to continue our partnership with Great Canadian and deliver premier poker experiences,” added GGPoker Managing Director Sarne Lightman. “By combining the best of live and online poker, we’re ensuring players have unparalleled access to the WSOP Circuit in Ontario.”
