It is fascinating to watch the debate around the topic of Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, whether among fans or Ontario sports betting customers. Is Allen among the pantheon of great QBs in the NFL based on accomplishments, ready to bring Buffalo a Super Bowl title? Or is the Bills’ championship window of opportunity closing?

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith talked about the ascension of the Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa, eclipsing the Bills QB. That’s good talk show fodder, but it misses the entire picture. The Bills are never going to win anything of substance solely off the arm and legs of Allen. They always needed a better supporting cast, and this season they might have it.

Top Bills To Watch On Offense

Led by running back James Cook, the Bills have so far presented a more balanced attack. The Bills are seventh in the NFL in team rushing (Miami is No. 1), with 448 yards, and a 5-yard average. Cook has 267 yards for a 6.1-yard rushing average. His skills, plus those of downhill runners Latavius Murray and Damien Harris, have helped steer Allen away from the need to run. The QB has 89 rushing yards and a TD this season.

Bettors are seeing this on the player prop betting front. The Bills (2-1) and Dolphins (3-0) play Sunday, at 1 p.m. in Buffalo, in a key early season matchup; Buffalo is a 2.5-point favorite with BetMGM Ontario Sportsbook. Miami is an offensive juggernaut with a healthy Tagovailoa and plenty of speed, starring Tyreek Hill at receiver. Can the Bills slow Miami at all? The Dolphins have been averaging 550.3 yards per game.

Then there’s Cook over 56.5 rushing yards (1.87); that is one of the most popular player prop bets at BetMGM. So is Bills TE Dawson Knox under 23.5 receiving yards (1.91). Bettors are also starting to see the potential in Cook.

At PointsBet Ontario Sportsbook, the most bet prop is Cook over 55.5 yards (1.87), and Stefon Diggs anytime TD (2.1). And 98% of the action on Allen O/U passing TDs (1.5) is on under 2.2. Not a lot of love there.

Top player props at Proline, as of Friday morning: Hill, total receiving yards O/U 87.5 (1.83); Diggs total receiving yards O/U 81.5 (1.83); Tagovailoa total passing yards O/U 272.5 (1.83); and the Bills’ Dalton Kincaid total receiving yards O/U 25.5 (1.80 on the Over, 1.87 on the Under).
