The Canadian Gaming Summit, operated for the first time by SBC – the company that organizes some of the largest international events in the betting and gaming industries – gets going on Tuesday in Toronto, with more than 2,000 expected for the three-day event.
The core panel discussions surrounding Ontario gambling sites and other issues are Wednesday and Thursday. Tuesday is the Player Protection Symposium, a pre-day conference that has become a staple of SBC events worldwide.
The Canadian Gaming Summit will be held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
Last June, the Canadian Gaming Association ran the event, the first summit after the Ontario market went legal.
Summit 100% Focused on Canada
This year, under SBC’s control, the event will be 100 per cent focused on the Canadian market – but not just Ontario. There will be a province-by-province approach, delving into each region’s unique set of rules and opportunities, covering areas like wagering on sports including Ontario sports betting. Other topics include iGaming, land-based operations, player protection, payments, marketing and advertising, affiliation and growth.
The summit will feature a larger exhibition floor (50% bigger) than last year, more mindfully curated conference sessions, plus a start-up competition for Canadian companies (SBC First Pitch) with cash going to the winner.
A spokesperson from SBC said they’re re-investing in the event to make the production level much better than in the past, on par with other international SBC events. This is because in large part these are meant to be A-list industry networking opportunities. Ontario is one of the largest gaming jurisdictions in North America since its Ontario casino apps and other markets launched in April 2022.
Seeking Better Understanding of Market
CGA president and CEO Paul Burns says SBC has been engaging the Canadian gaming industry to better understand what attendees and exhibitors in this market are looking for and that will be on display this week.
There will be more than 75 exhibitors involved in the event this week, and over 160 top-of-class speakers taking part, covering a wide variety of topics. The SBC Connect Plus event app allows sponsors, exhibitors and attendees to make connections, plan their week, plus get product and company suggestions based on their interests.
The First Nations Canadian Gaming Awards will recognize the contribution of First Nations-led gaming entities in Canada.
