Ontario residents looking to voluntarily exclude themselves from wagering on the province’s iGaming and online sports betting apps will soon have an innovative way to do so.

On Thursday, Integrity Compliance and iGaming Ontario announced that the Las Vegas-based gaming integrity technology company was selected to develop what will be the first “centralized” platform for bettors to self-exclude casinos. This platform will enable individuals to bar themselves from betting at any of the 80 online Ontario sportsbooks and iCasinos, including the Ontario Lottery platforms, simply by signing up through the register once.

IC360 will develop the solution with IXUP Limited, which oversees Australia’s BetStop national voluntary exclusion register. The system will be available to all adults 19 and older who can set up their profile at the site. Developers say the process will be simple and intuitive.

More About IC360

“IC360 is excited to work with iGaming Ontario to implement a platform with the highest standard of responsible gambling solutions to one of the world’s leading gaming jurisdictions,” IC360 President Eric Frank said. “This selection underscores our commitment to excellence and innovation, and it validates the hard work and dedication of our entire team.”

While Ontario online casinos are most robust legalized online gaming market in North America, regulators in the province have taken several steps to protect bettors and promote responsible gaming. That has included strict guidelines on how promotional credits can be marketed. In February, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario enacted rules barring sports betting and iGaming apps from using athletes and celebrities to promote their apps.

“Requirements for robust player protections and responsible gambling safeguards are central to the AGCO’s regulatory standards for Ontario’s gaming industry,” said Dr. Karin Schnarr, CEO and Registrar of the AGCO. “Once the new, centralized self-exclusion system is available, all registered gaming operators in the province will be required to participate, and this will go a long way in supporting players who wish to stop or take a break from gambling in Ontario.

Releases by both IC360 and iGaming Ontario should have mentioned when the platform would become available.
