The Toronto Blue Jays start their postseason this afternoon in Game 1 of their wild-card series in Minnesota against the Twins. Bettors at Ontario sportsbooks seem hyped about Bo Bichette’s potential to lead the charge for Toronto. The first pitch is set for 4:38 p.m. Eastern Tuesday to start the best-of-three series at Target Field. Blue Jays starter Kevin Gausman (12-9, 3.16 ERA, 237 strikeouts) faces Pablo Lopez of the Twins (11-8, 3.66, 234 Ks).

Bichette, the Jays’ shortstop, had a strong regular season, with a .306 batting average, 20 home runs, 73 RBIs and an .814 OPS. In six games against the Twins this season, his numbers are even more impressive: a .333 average in 27 at-bats, nine hits, two HRs and seven RBIs. His performance against Minnesota in 2023 has bettors at Ontario sports betting apps taking notice.

Popular Blue Jays-Twins Prop Bets

One popular parlay, at 6.75 odds (or +575 in American odds) is: Bichette to have 3+ total bases, 2+ hits and 1+ RBI, plus the Jays to win. That wager is getting a lot of action at DraftKings, a spokesperson said.

Moneyline odds have evened out over the past 24 hours. BetMGM Ontario Sportsbook has the Jays at 1.91, and the Twins at 1.91, with the Spread Jays -1.5 (2.55) and the Twins +1.5 (1.53).

No surprise so far on the betting front at Proline: The operator reports that bettors are fully behind the hometown team, with more than 90% of money backing the Jays to win the series. And 44% are betting on the Jays on pulling off the road sweep, taking the first two games. Thirty-six percent of Proline bettors think the Jays can win the World Series. Bichette is among the popular player prop bets there as well.

Majority Of Bettors Riding With Blue Jays

At DraftKings Ontario Sportsbook, the Jays have 95% of the handle and 92% of bets to win the series against the Twins, who come in having lost 18 consecutive postseason games, an MLB record.

According to Proline, currently the most bet player prop is Pitcher Strikeouts, with players liking Gausman to go over 6.5 Ks and Lopez to go under 6.5. As for hitters, the most popular prop as of Tuesday norming is Bichette to hit a homer, which has 35% of play in the HR market.

Gausman is getting a lot of action at BetMGM – most bet props include Over 15.5 outs (1.77) and Over 6.5 strikeouts (1.83). Gausman Over 15.5 outs is the current most-bet prop for the Jays at DraftKings.

A spokesperson for bet365 said Bichette is very popular for singles and same game parlays for the following – Over 1.5 hits (2.70), 1 or More Hits (1.36), and Over 1.5 Total Bases (2.10). Brandon Belt Over 0.5 Hits (1.77) is also popular, as is Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 0.5 HR (5.25) and Over 1.5 Player Total Base (2.25). The spokesperson said it’s clear Jays faithful support all their main hitters to do well today, with very big Over action on Jays players markets, minimal Unders and lots of SGPs.

And Caesars Ontario Sportsbook, reports that its most popular players props for today’s game involve Guerrero Jr.

“Anything Vlad Jr.-related is a popular play at Caesars Sportsbook," said Eric Biggio, MLB Lead Trader at Caesars Sportsbook. "Whether that’s total bases, RBI, or ‘to hit a home run’, players are betting on Vlad to have a big game. Across all jurisdictions, there has been lots of money on the Jays to win the series.”

The Toronto Blue Jays have American odds of +1800 to win the World Series, according to Caesars. That's slightly better than the Twins (+2000) even though Minnesota is at home for this first-round series.
