The entertainment company recently issued a news release, announcing that it had raised $5 million in seed capital.

Betty says it has identified a large audience of casual casino apps Ontario customers, particularly female slot players.

“Sports betting and casinos have historically been marketed to men,” said a spokesperson from Gaingels, a LGBTQIA+/Allies private investment syndicate that invested in Betty. “In reality women make up more than half of the market. We love Betty’s mission to make the category more inclusive.”

The funds raised will be used for Betty’s Ontario online slots operation. The seed funding is going towards continued development of Betty’s proprietary iCasino platform.

Oscars Betting Favourites Cash In at Proline

All the favourites won their respective categories in Academy Awards betting, according to the OLG.

At Proline, 80% of customers cashed in by picking Brendan Fraser to win Best Actor for his role in “The Whale” on Sunday night at the Oscars ceremonies in Los Angeles. And 84% of customers picked Michelle Yeoh to win Best Actress for her role in “Everything Everywhere All at Once” as well. For the same film, 67% of bettors correctly chose Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert to win Best Director.

While it was the most popular choice, just 35% of Proline customers picked “Everything Everywhere All at Once” to win Best Picture – 16% picked “Top Gun: Maverick” and 11% went with “All Quiet on the Western Front.”

A few operators of Ontario sportsbooks offer Oscars betting in a handful of states in the U.S. market.
