One of the final cornerstone players from the Toronto Raptors’ championship run in 2019 could be the next to leave town as the franchise continues its rebuild. His fate could well have Ontario sports betting repercussions.
That player is 29-year-old power forward Pascal Siakam, who is once again posting All-Star quality numbers for the Raptors in 2023. He is averaging 20.7 points and 6.8 rebounds per game, while hitting 49.7% of his shots this season.
Siakam is slated to become an unrestricted free agent for the first time in 2024 and is making $37.8 million in the final year of his current four-year deal with the Raptors, who have +25000 at BetMGM Ontario Sportsbook to win the NBA title. So general manager Bobby Webster is likely to consider moving the veteran prior to the NBA’s Feb. 8 trade deadline.
With that in mind, OntarioBets.com broke down the odds on where Siakam could call home next, assuming the Raptors choose to pull the plug on their current lineup by that date in early February.
Pascal Siakam Next Team Odds
These odds are created by OntarioBets.com and are not to be found with Ontario sportsbook apps operators. There are several candidates on our list.
Where Will Siakam Play Next?
The leader in the Siakam sweepstakes is his current team, given the veteran’s large salary obligations for the rest of the season. Plus, Toronto might make a run at a playoff berth in the top-heavy Eastern Conference, though the Raptors enter Tuesday at 9-14 and with +10000 odds at NorthStar Bets Ontario Sportsbook to win the conference.
Toronto is our No. 1 choice to keep Siakam past the trade deadline, at +175, while the Atlanta Hawks lead outside contenders for his services at +700. Atlanta is battling the Raptors for the 10th and final spot in the East, which could motivate the Hawks to spend big before the deadline. They would do well to land a post threat to complement star guard Trae Young in 2023-24 and beyond.
Other Contenders for Siakam
Other contenders to trade for Siakam include the Philadelphia 76ers and Golden State Warriors (+1000 apiece), while the Sacramento Kings and Indiana Pacers round out our list at +1200 each. You can use our guide to new sportsbooks in Ontario to keep track of odds at many different operators.
The Celtics could conceivably part with a few of their rotation players to land a player of Siakam’s caliber. That would help take some of the heat in the frontcourt off of superstar Jayson Tatum, who’s averaging 27.5 points per game on 49.6% shooting this season.
The Kings and Pacers are both making playoff pushes in their respective conferences and feature young rosters that could use a veteran presence like Siakam to help. Either way, there should be no shortage of potential suitors for a player of Siakam’s quality, should the Raptors choose to deal the All-Star before the league’s trade deadline.
