The 2025 World Series of Poker is ramping up and Ontario online poker players can get in on the action, dreaming of an eight-figure payout for winning the game’s biggest prize.
The ultimate destination is the WSOP Main Event, which runs from May 27 and ends July 16 at the Horseshoe on the Las Vegas Strip. There are satellite and qualifying events running in the meantime and players in Canada can try their hand at making a run all the way to Sin City this summer.
What Happened Last Year At WSOP
Last year, Niagara Falls native Jason Sagle won $3 million in last year’s Main Event by finishing fourth at the final table. Jonathan Tamayo beat out fellow American Jordan Griff at the end to claim the $10 million first prize. Tamayo emerged from the largest Main Event field ever, with 10,112 players.
Two other Canadians, Kristen Foxen and Jason James, also finished in the top 20. Both narrowly missed out on the final table, with Foxen, the highest-finishing woman, winding up in 13th place for $600,000 USD in winnings and James ($450,400) finishing 14th.
Four other Canadians finished in the tournament’s top 100.
