The ever-growing list of Ontario online casino providers is set to expand again soon.
Soft2Bet has been awarded a Certificate of Registration from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. The AGCO regulated sports betting and online casino, also known as iGaming, in Canada’s most populous province.
More Than Six Dozen Ontario Gaming Options
The iGaming Ontario (iGO) website lists 66 brands that offer wagering on casino games, sporting events or peer-to-peer poker (some companies are listed as offering more than one product) as of March 28.
The AGCO is the regulator for Ontario wagering online; the iGO conducts and manages the operation. Those online Ontario casino apps launched in April 2022 and have attracted more than $80 billion CAD in total handle among casino, sports and poker customers combined.
More About Soft2Bet
Soft2Bet offers both online casino and sportsbook products in more than 10 markets.
“We’re immensely excited about taking our first steps in North America and look forward to licensing and launching in more jurisdictions in the region,” Soft2Bet Head of Regulatory Compliance Elisabeth Isaksson said in a company release.
The company will be operating the Tooniebet brand in Canada, with its name a nod to the nation’s $2 coin.
Casino options, including Ontario slot games, account for the majority of wagering online in the province. The last quarter reported (October to December 2023) set a record for handle, or amount bet, at $17.2 billion. Of that, $13.7 billion came from casino sites, compared to $3.1 billion on sports betting and $431 million on poker. That’s consistent with previous quarters, in which about 80% of handle, or a bit more, is on casino games.
“This Ontario certification is another significant and important step in our corporate expansion plans,” company Chief Business Development Officer Martin Collins said.
